I studied at the London College of Fashion a BTEC HND course in combined beauty therapy, cosmological science and business studies in 1991. The reason I chose to study beauty instead of becoming a teacher like I had planned. I had terrible acne, and in my quest to deal with this I had started a passion for make-up and skin care. I was determined to learn all I could about the skin and skin care products.

I started in the west end as a make-up artist, then working as a dermalogica skin care therapist, going on to manage salons in the west end and the city. Through my training I had conquered my skin problems and I wanted to pass my knowledge onto clients. The problem was being based in the city or west end people did not want a skin treatment and have to go back to work or home on the train, so I decided to open a salon locally so people could come to me after work or on their days off.

In 1995 I open Beauty Avenue on The Avenue in Highams Park, East London (hence the name). A one room salon with myself as the only therapist and my sister helping on reception. After 3 years I was too busy to meet the demand and with parking getting more of a challenge, I move to Walthamstow right opposite homebase so the parking issue was solved and I had more rooms, so I could take on other therapists to help meet the demand.

In 2018 I decided to change the business, I had found over the years the best therapists wanted the control and flexibility of their own work, so I changed from employing therapists to offering them the chance to have their own business within Beauty Holistic Avenue. This has been a great success, a team of like-minded therapists working together but having the independence to what we all believe is the best for our businesses and clients. We have formed a strong bond supporting each other and work closely together to create the best treatments for all our clients with the wealth of experience and knowledge we have. We always guide the clients to the best therapist for their needs.

Due to this I created my independent part of my business ‘The Facialist’. I had always predominantly been known for my skin care treatments and majority of my post graduate training has been in skincare. Skin care has always been my main passion. With over 25 years experience I have developed a range of treatments, products and holistic therapies that help treat all skin conditions from anti-ageing, acne, pigmentation, rosacea, scarring, facial hair and general skin health.

2021 has started my new journey in teaching, going full circle to what I wanted to do when I left school. Qualifying in teacher training in 2019, lockdown halted my progression onto teaching. Since employing therapist from 1998 I have been training therapist in clinic and helping progress their career in their chosen direction. With changing the business in 2018 this changed my direction from employer and from training therapists in treatments, to guiding them for their business development. This allowed me more time to put into teaching with IvanMed, EcoDiode and incorporating Zemits and Infini within my own accredited training courses.

2022 has been a new start with a change of my clinic name to Eco Skin Clinic, embracing the eco conscious part of the business and marking a new start to the progressive changes there has been over the last 27 years and now in 2023 I have created a training room at the clinic and started Eco Skin Academy. This new chapter is just beginning, but is a progression on from the teaching I have been providing over the last 3 years.
