Frequently Asked Questions
What is Aqualyx made of?
qualyx is natural product, a compound solution belonging to the deoxycholate family, albeit modified to some extent.
The deoxycholate family – the conjugate base of deoxycholic acid – is a bile acid, synthesized in the human liver. Naturally occurring deoxycholic acid is used in the body’s natural process of fat emulsification, where fat is broken down so that the intestines can absorb it.
The key ingredients of Aqualyx include the following:
Sugar obtained from red macroalgae
A monosaccharide sugar
Chemicals acting as a buffer system
Deoxycholic acid
Water (87%)
Sodium chloride (0.8%)
Despite the scientific terminology for these chemicals, they are all basically derived from plants. Let us take a look at each component chemical to understand their role in the product.
Sugar Obtained from Red Macroalgae
This is a sugar obtained from agar, which has anti-cariogenic properties, according to Food Chemistry; this means that this kind of sugar substitute is good for preventing dental cavities. The demand for this sugar is on the rise, given the increased preference for dietary sugars.
This hexose polymer is capable of attracting water and exchanging it for molecules of the active principle (the biologically active ingredient of a pharmaceutical drug). It releases the principle slowly, as per interstitial pressure.
A Monosaccharide Sugar
A monosaccharide sugar, D-galactose, is responsible for providing energy and finds use as a substrate for biosynthesis of several macromolecules in the human body. The main natural source of this component is mammalian milk, fruits, and vegetables, according to Human Metabolome Database (HMDB).
Buffer Systems (4.2%)
This is one of the key components of Aqualyx which is responsible for ensuring that the sodium salt of the deoxycholic acid is delivered to just the intended spot.
Sodium Salt of Deoxycholic Acid
While preparing Aqualyx, this ingredient – also known as a derivative of the deoxycholic acid – has been attenuated. In conjunction with the deliberate slowing of release by the hexose sugar, the reduced aggressiveness of this polymer makes, as per the developer’s claims, the product safe for use.
Sodium deoxycholate – mixed with phosphatidylcholine – is often used in mesotherapy, to induce lipolysis. We shall explore the concept of mesotherapy in detail below.
Water and Sodium Chloride
The water content in the product is mainly used as a substrate and for injection purposes.
How does it differ from other fat dissolving injections?
Some products, such as Lipodissolve, contain phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholic acid; however, studies have demonstrated that phosphatidylcholine injections for fat loss are ineffective and it is the deoxycholic acid part which gives the result.
How does Aqualyx work?
Aqualyx works by breaking down cell membranes to liquify the fat cell, destroying it permanently, releasing the lipids that are then eliminated naturally through the lymphatic system.
How many treatments will I need and when will I see results?
A reduction in fat deposits can be seen after just one treatment, however between six sessions are recommended to achieve desired results, 4 weeks apart.
A reduction in fat in the targeted area can be noted a number of weeks post-treatment. The speed at which noticeable results are seen will vary depending on the stability of the cell membranes; younger clients are more likely to see results after a longer period. In very small fat pads, the desired results can already be seen after one treatment.
How long will the results last for?
Fat reduction is permanent, for the fat cells are destroyed; they don’t come back. Of course, if more weight is gained, then the fatty appearance will return, but in proportion with the new shape gained.
Are there any side effects?
As Aqualyx a non-surgical solution it means no downtime, there are some temporary side effects, which include bruising, swelling, redness and irritation in the injection area. Sometimes it may feel a slightly tender to touch, numb or itchy but these side effects usually reside after 1-3 days.
Is Aqualyx safe?
We buy our Aqualyx from a licensed distriubtor. The product has undergone many tests and approvals, such that it has met all the health and safety standards required in the European Union. The dosage is in the form of Aqualyx 5 * 8 ml (half ) and Aqualyx 10 * 8mls vials. It has been given the European conformity approval (CE) certification and therefore approved for use in Europe, UK, and also has the FDA approval.
There are minimal side effects and the recommended treatment age is from 18 up to 60 years.
What will happen the day of the treatment?
After a pre-treatment consultation the area of concern will marked out. The area can be numbed for you comfort and a number of small Aqualyx injection are administered using a fine needle make sure the area if fully covered. Aqualyx causes a slight burning sensation which goes quickly. Arnica gel is massaged into the area to help stop any busing and soothe the area.
Can everyone have Aqualyx treatments?
As long as you are generally healthy and don’t have any skin diseases or infections in the area treated, there are few medical reasons why you should not undergo this treatment. However, Aqualyx is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breast feeding; patients with auto-immune disease, diabetics and patients who have had severe anaphylactic reactions and allergies. It is also not recommended for those people who have been diagnosed with lipodystrophy or any pathological conditions.
